Circumferential Abdominoplasty (Lower Body Lift)

Another variation of the standard tummy tuck is known as a circumferential abdominoplasty or "lower body lift.” This procedure is chosen when the patient's excess skin problem is not confined to the lower abdomen, but also extends across each hip area and into the lower back and buttocks. In this circumstance, there is a desire to tighten those areas in addition to tightening the lower abdomen. The surgical removal of excess skin must follow a path that runs circumferentially around the lower body.

As with panniculectomy, this procedure is associated with increased anesthesia time and, occasionally, a well advised overnight hospital stay.
