With many years of experience, as a board certified plastic surgeon in the Baton Rouge community, I have built a strong following of patients seeking facial rejuvenation surgery. These patients all share the common desire to gain a "refreshed” or even a more youthful facial appearance by means of aesthetic plastic surgery. Lacking adequate knowledge of the several surgical and non-surgical alternatives available to assist in achieving this goal, each patient must be carefully guided through the process of selecting a procedure, or combination of procedures most likely to fulfill expectations. This is where careful consultation and my many years of experience are a tremendous benefit to my patients.
Dr. Gruenwald is a board certified plastic surgeon in Baton Rouge, LA and provides aesthetic surgery for those in and around the Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas.

Name | Introduction | | Face Lift | Stress, sun exposure and genetics are all formidable forces pitted against us as we age causing varying degrees of change to our once youthful faces. Dr. Gruenwald can help smooth lines and wrinkles, correct loss of volume and diminish the effect of reduced skin elasticity. He uses the most modern facelift techniques resulting in a more natural look with inconspicuous scarring.
| | Necklift | Occasionally, I see patients not yet of an age for which a complete facelift is necessary, but still seeking rejuvenation surgery. In these cases, it's not the entire facial and neck areas showing signs of aging but, rather, just the neck region that's the problem. For these patients, provided the cheeks and jowls are still youthful in appearance, a neck lift (or, possibly, a submental lipectomy) may be the solution.
| | Cheek Lift | Some patients—often of early face lift age range—seek facial rejuvenation, when it's not both the facial and neck areas showing signs of aging, but just the cheeks. This is typically manifested by the appearance of jowls and deep creases running between the nose and outer angles of the mouth.
| | Forehead Lift (Brow Lift) | Forehead lift surgery has been around for many decades, both to reposition the level of the eyebrows as well as to smooth out unwanted forehead wrinkles.
| | Eyelid Lift | Surgery to rejuvenate the eyelids is known as a blepharoplasty and may be applied to the upper eyelids (upper blepharoplasty), the lower eyelids (lower blepharoplasty) or both upper and lower eyelids. This is, by far, the most common form of facial rejuvenation surgery and is also the form most likely to be performed on male patients.
| | Chin Surgery | A patient's chin is considered "weak” or "retrusive” when it fails to adequately protrude forward to give good balance to the lower third of the face. This is most apparent when the face is viewed from the side, and it is frequently unrecognized by patients who believe their real problem to be just excessive nasal size.
| | Ear Surgery | Ears that "stick out” too far can create a poor self-image, starting at an early age. By the time children reach the age of seven or eight, some psychological damage may have already occurred as a result of ridicule by friends or classmates. It's for this reason the procedure to correct prominent ears, known as otoplasty (ear pinning)
| | Lip Augmentation | Another of the several characteristics of facial aging is the loss of facial volume, and this also includes a loss of lip volume. Thin lips, whether related to aging or genetics, can be particularly troublesome to women who view "full lips” as a desirable facial feature.
| | Injectables | One of the areas of Aesthetic Surgery in which misconceptions have started to run wild is with respect to the use of "injectables.” In the following overview, I present my straight-forward perspective on injectables to help you better understand them and, hopefully, make a proper decision regarding their use.
| | Fat Transfer | Although synthetic injectable fillers are a popular choice because of their ease and quick results, the fact that they are temporary and thus create an ongoing repeat injection expense becomes a definite drawback. For permanence, fat transfer (fat injections) must be considered.
| | Resurfacing | "Resurfacing” is another Aesthetic Surgery procedure area in which there is frequent confusion and misunderstanding. In my effort to provide sufficient information for you to make an informed decision about resurfacing, I offer an Anesthetic Plastic Surgeon's insight into Chemical Peels and Dermabrasion.
