Learn More about Dr. Gruenwald's Difference
Some patients—often of early face lift age range—seek facial rejuvenation, when it's not both the facial and neck areas showing signs of aging, but just the cheeks. This is typically manifested by the appearance of jowls and deep creases running between the nose and outer angles of the mouth.
My Preferred Technique
So long as the neck appears youthful, cheek rejuvenation may be accomplished using an "S-Lift” of the cheek, otherwise known as a cheek lift. This can be likened to the upper portion of a SMAS facelift omitting the lower (neck) portion. This S-Lift incision is depicted in the figure to the right:
Using this type of incision (dotted white line), the cheek SMAS can be easily accessed and the cheek area of the face successfully "lifted,” just as it is during the upper portion of a complete SMAS Facelift.
