Dr. Charles Gruenwald is a 1969 graduate of Duke University School of Medicine. He completed a surgery internship and a year of general surgery residency in New York City at State University of New York, Kings County Hospital. He then completed a three-year residency in otolaryngology at Harvard University Medical School in Boston, becoming board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology in 1976. He finished his formal medical training in 1978, completing a two-year plastic surgery residency at the University of Utah College of Medicine in Salt Lake City. He became board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1979.
Dr. Gruenwald began his plastic surgery practice in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1978 where he helped establish Associates in Plastic Surgery. In 1979, he attended a three-month craniofacial fellowship, refining his skills relating to the correction of congenital facial deformities under Fernando Ortiz-Monasterio, MD in Mexico City, Mexico. Upon return, he resumed serving as one of Associates in Plastic Surgery's principal plastic surgeons for over three decades. He also spent 25 years as an associate professor in plastic surgery affiliated with the Division of Surgery, LSU School of Medicine. Dr. Gruenwald was elected by his peers for inclusion in Best Doctors in America® from 1996 to 2004 and 2007 to 2010. In September 2009, Dr. Gruenwald was chosen by Louisiana Life Magazine as one of "Louisiana's Top Doctors" in the field of plastic surgery.
In early 2010, Dr. Gruenwald opened a private practice to concentrate his talents in the area of his professional passion, the dynamic field of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
